About US

Roller Derby 101 was created out of a love for roller derby.
It is meant to be a place where curious newcomers can learn about the basics of the sport, avid fans can stay up to date with the latest rankings and news from within the derby community, skaters from around the world can see their teams represented on our map, and we can all share our passion for roller derby.

This site was created by Georgia Knoles as part of her masters program at the

University of Clermont Auvergne (M2 LLCER Média et médiation culturelle).

On the track she's Georgia O'Gifle, a pivot (or whatever's needed) for the Auver'Niaks of Clermont-Ferrand, France. When she visits her home in Seattle, Washington (USA), she practices with Jet City Roller Derby.

Georgia grew up watching Rat City Roller Derby in Seattle (she often plays in fishnets and always black lipstick as an homage to this 2000s derby scene). A lifelong multi-sport athlete, she finally took to the track in September, 2021 and hasn't looked back since. She loves the feminism, the queerness, and the joy that roller derby encapsulates.
